THE OPPORTUNITY

Citadel EHS is seeking a full-time Project Assistant to support our Industrial Hygiene & Safety (IH&S) team. This role blends project coordination, technical and administrative support, equipment management, and occasional field support. WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Support Project Managers and consulting staff with day-to-day project and administrative needs.
• Set up and maintain opportunities, proposals, projects, budgets, and project records in Deltek Vision.
• Prepare proposal templates, establish proposal numbers, create project folders, and organize supporting documents.
• Assist with project scopes, report templates, field paperwork, travel arrangements, receipts, and project correspondence.
• Confirm that contracts, authorizations, and purchase orders are signed and properly saved in Deltek and Citadel Connect.
• Retrieve and review field paperwork and subconsultant documents for completeness, following up when information is missing.
• Download and enter data, generate reports, and assist with technical report preparation.
• Coordinate sample pick-up and drop-off with laboratories and arrange field equipment rentals.
• Track IH&S equipment inventory and help ensure equipment is calibrated, maintained, and ready for use.
• Communicate project status, completed tasks, and potential delays to Project Managers in a timely manner.
• Provide occasional office, phone, shipping, delivery, and company-wide health and safety program support.
• Gain exposure to field activities and work toward supporting duties associated with the consulting technician role.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Bachelor’s degree, or progress toward a degree, preferably in occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, environmental science, environmental engineering, or a related field.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with close attention to detail.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to follow up professionally with coworkers, clients, laboratories, and vendors.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; experience with Deltek Vision is a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work both independently and as part of a team.
• Interest in industrial hygiene, safety, scientific concepts, and environmental health and safety regulations.
• Reliable transportation and the ability to travel locally throughout Southern California.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to lift and handle equipment weighing up to 25 pounds independently and up to 50 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to drive for up to two to three hours as needed to support Southern California offices and projects.
• Ability to perform computer-based work for prolonged periods, up to a full shift.

Citadel EHS is seeking a Consulting Specialist to provide on-site industrial hygiene and safety consulting support to a City in San Diego’s North County, with the ability to support additional Citadel clients throughout San Diego, Orange, and Los Angeles Counties, as needed. WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Perform health and safety inspections, audits, and hazard identification at City facilities and job sites, including industrial hygiene surveys, air monitoring, and site investigations.
• Serve as an on-site health and safety resource to City staff and field crews.
• Develop, update, and implement written health and safety programs.
• Maintain records and documentation to support City compliance with Cal/OSHA requirements.
• Develop and deliver health and safety training to City staff.
• Attend job walks, progress meetings, and client meetings to help scope projects, maintain strong working relationships, and represent Citadel professionally.
• Review contracts, scopes of work, project specifications, safety plans, and safety data sheets to understand project requirements, schedules, and deliverables.
• Conduct and oversee field activities, provide field quality control, and ensure required field documentation is complete and properly maintained.
• Prepare clear draft reports, conclusions, recommendations, technical documents, presentations, and other project deliverables for peer review.
• Assist with proposals, project budgets, scheduling, project tracking, Deltek updates, and pre-billing activities.
• Coordinate with clients, field staff, subcontractors, laboratories, vendors, and internal team members to keep projects moving on schedule and within budget.
• Track project progress, communicate noteworthy events promptly, and help identify and resolve issues that could affect successful completion.
• Maintain, safeguard, and coordinate the use of field equipment and supplies.
• Support weekend on-call rotations and occasional night or weekend work based on project needs.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in industrial hygiene, occupational health and safety, environmental science, environmental engineering, or a related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical reports and explain findings to clients, management, and regulators.
• Familiarity with municipal or public agency clients and Cal/OSHA regulations.

Position Summary:

The Consulting Technician works under the direction of Citadel Project Managers and performs a variety of IH&S consulting projects including moisture/microbial investigations, industrial hygiene assessments, and safety inspections. The Consulting Technician may also serve in a supplemental staff support role, working at a client site as part of their team to fulfill EHS responsibilities.  The type of work to be performed by this role will vary based on the needs of our clients.  However, it is reasonable to expect a mix of work at client site locations and office-based work on a weekly basis.

This position reports to a senior staff member in the IH&S department.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

• Performs moisture/microbial investigations
• Conducts industrial hygiene surveys including air and surface sampling
• Performs safety-related surveys/inspections
• Develops and delivers health and safety trainings
• Writes technical EHS programs and reports
• Provides EHS consulting support at client-site locations

Desired Experience/Qualifications:

• 0-3 years of experience in EHS, preferably in industrial hygiene and/or safety
• Experience in performing EHS-related surveys, assessments, evaluations, and/or investigations
• Experience in basic industrial hygiene sampling techniques such as surface or air sampling for fungal spores
• Experience in using industrial hygiene instruments such as a sound level meter, sampling pump, noise dosimeter, or infrared camera
• Experience in writing technical reports
• Experience in any of the following industries: higher education, life sciences, real estate, and construction

Education Requirements:

• B.S. degree or higher in Public Health, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related science from an accredited school

Position Requirements:

• Must be able to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds, work some nights and weekends, and pass a background check to obtain security clearance to client sites
• Must be able to safely wear a tight-fitting respirator when required to perform duties assigned to this role, in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Medical evaluation and fit testing will be provided
• Must have a valid driver’s license, a car, and willingness to travel throughout Southern California
• May occasionally require travel and overnight stays outside of Southern California

Licenses/Certifications:

• Candidate working towards CIH and/or CSP is preferred, but not required

Compensation and Benefits:

The expected pay range for this position is $27 to $37 per hour. Citadel also has an attractive bonus program, 401k match opportunity, and 100% Citadel-paid Vision, LTD and dental insurance option for the employee. We will contribute $760 towards your medical plan for employee only.

Actual compensation will be based on various factors including skills, experience, and education.

Citadel EHS seeks a staff-level environmental engineer, geologist, or scientist to assist with a diverse set of projects from a growing client base. The successful candidate is expected to work in Citadel’s Walnut Creek Office but will be considered for our Grass Valley office. Travel throughout California or Western US should be anticipated. The Candidate should possess some experience conducting and writing Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and Phase II Environmental Investigations reports, performing tasks related to the collection of soil, soil vapor, and groundwater samples, operating and maintaining soil and groundwater sampling and monitoring equipment, supporting the project manager with preparing and managing a variety of work reports and plans including Work Plans, Soil Management Plans, Health and Safety Plans, Risk-Based Assessments, Conceptual Site Models and other similar documents.

The Candidate should have well-developed computer skills, as well as written and interpersonal communication skills. Requirements of this position include strong organizational abilities and strict attention to detail; Willingness to travel, work limited nights and weekends as projects require; climb ladders, carry equipment, manage, and oversee construction sites; and be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment, including respirators; a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. The ideal candidate will possess two to four years of progressive experience, with some work-from-home flexibility.

Skills/Qualifications:

1. BS in Geology, Engineering, Environmental Studies, or related disciplines and/or relevant experience;
2. Minimum two years of related experience;
3. Direct experience performing Phase I ESA Site Walks and writing Phase I reports (required);
4. 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification desired;
5. Current holder of an EiT or GiT certificate, or ability to obtain within one year of employment desired;
6. On track for licensure as a Professional Engineer, Geologist, Hazardous Materials Manager, or other relevant professional certification;
7. Meets the definition of “Environmental Professional” under AAI;
8. Self-starter and responsiveness is a must;
9. Working knowledge of construction management, reading, and working from blueprints (desired); MS Office, Word, and Excel and excellent written and verbal communication skills are required;
10. You should possess good organizational skills and time management practices;
11. Limited travel including overnight stays may be required.

Level/Salary Range:

$30/hr. -$39/hr. + Bonuses
