Citadel Cares Q1 Volunteer Events

Citadel Cares is an internal committee within

Citadel EHS

which organizes our volunteer events, provides “Monday Motivations” reminders, organizes monthly employee health and fitness initiatives, and leads cross-company collaborations and celebrations.

Citadel EHS has a longstanding program for quarterly company wide volunteer efforts that benefit our communities and our environment. We consider the environment and our communities two of our biggest stakeholders! This is why we make such a commitment to do events and activities as a company that benefit them–both inside and outside of the office. Each quarter we make a commitment to improving our environment and the lives of those in our community by organizing a company volunteer effort. Our past Citadel Cares events have included tree planting, beach cleanups, personal care kits for the homeless, and many more. We ensure that each of our events aligns with our values as a company. We’re committed to reducing our impact on the environment while simultaneously looking out for the clients we serve and the businesses they hold. We practice what we preach and we lead by example.

For Q1, Citadel Cares coordinated with the

LA Food Bank

for Citadelians to volunteer their time assembling food boxes for senior citizens. With Citadel’s help, there were

3,528

boxes of food kits produced that morning that will go out to senior citizens. Citadelians who donated their time said they had a blast and look forward to volunteering their time again in the future. A big thank you to

This Quarter in addition to our Q1 Food Bank volunteer effort, Citadelian

Ivy Inouye

has taken the initiative to coordinate a second amazing volunteer opportunity.

The

UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital

in Oakland requested arts and craft kits for year round fun. With these kits, the young patients can make their own art projects while in the hospital. One kit is for one patient. Each kit included:

• Teen/Adult Coloring Book
• Colored pencils
• Paint pots with brushes
• Wood frame and/or Box
• 2 small 5X7 canvases for painting

With the support of her fellow Citadelians, Ivy collected a total of

craft kits for the children at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in Oakland. We hope that these kits help the children in the hospital keep up their mental and emotional health while going through trying times, and serve as a reminder that people all over care about them.

Citadel Cares is constantly looking for opportunities to benefit our communities and our environment, and we look forward to many more ways to do so.
