Our Story
We are experts in Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability, but it's our lived Values approach that makes us different. Our origins
Three decades of growing with the people who built it

1993
Founded
Loren Witkin starts Citadel to bridge the gap between siloed EHS&S consulting and the full life cycle of the built environment.
2003
Became employee-owned
Citadel forms an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), bringing employees into ownership of the firm.
2023
Acquired RMD Environmental
RMD Environmental joins Citadel, deepening our environmental services bench.
2025
Partnered with Broadview Group
A long-term partnership with a private investment firm that shares our outlook on employee development and disciplined growth.
2026
Acquired Aurora Industrial Hygiene
Aurora Industrial Hygiene joins Citadel, expanding our industrial hygiene practice across Southern California.
