Former Kaiser Aerotech Facility

Citadel EHS has provided long-term environmental remediation and redevelopment support for a former aerospace and aircraft manufacturing facility in San Leandro, California. Aerospace manufacturing operations occurred at the approximately 14-acre property from the mid-1950s through the 1990s, resulting in chlorinated volatile organic compounds, including trichloroethene (TCE) and its degradation products, in soil, groundwater, and soil vapor. Citadel’s work is being performed under oversight of the California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC).

Citadel has conducted routine groundwater monitoring and managed an enhanced in-situ bioremediation program using electron-donor injections to promote reductive dechlorination of TCE. As redevelopment plans advanced, the team performed extensive vapor intrusion investigations, including subslab, soil vapor, and indoor air evaluations, and completed a Human Health Risk Assessment to support redevelopment planning.

Citadel also developed vapor intrusion mitigation system designs and key construction-phase environmental plans, helping the client manage legacy contamination while moving a major redevelopment project forward safely and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
