Martin Luther King, Jr. Medical Campus

Citadel EHS supported the redevelopment of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Medical Campus Behavioral Health Center (MLK Behavioral Health Center) by providing comprehensive environmental consulting, hazardous materials surveys, industrial hygiene services, and construction-phase environmental compliance support.

Citadel EHS performed a comprehensive asbestos, lead, PCBs, mercury-containing materials, refrigerants/CFC/Freons, and other hazardous materials survey of the Old MACC Building, in preparation of its renovation into the MLK Behavioral Health Center.

Citadel prepared abatement specifications to be used during bidding of the project, and during the abatement and construction efforts. Citadel reviewed contractor abatement workplans and performed project oversight during the hazardous materials removals at the site.

In addition, due to water loss events during construction, Citadel assisted with assessing the extent of the water loss, sampling for mold and fungus, and clearance sampling after water and microbial remediation efforts.

Our team helped the County of Los Angeles identify and manage environmental risks, navigate complex regulatory requirements, and safely execute abatement, remediation, and redevelopment activities, contributing to the successful transformation of the Old MACC Building into a modern behavioral health facility.
