Since 1999, Citadel EHS has been a trusted partner for the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), providing a broad spectrum of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) services across nearly 300 projects. Citadel’s work has included high-profile seismic and life safety upgrade projects across UCLA’s 411-acre campus, as well as environmental, hazardous materials, indoor air quality, exposure assessment, and safety compliance efforts. Representative work includes projects at the UCLA School of Dentistry / CHS Building, Co-Generation Plant, Wilshire Glendon Building, Nimoy Theatre, Southwest Campus Apartments, On-Campus Housing, Harbor UCLA Medical Center, and the Neuropsychiatric Replacement Hospital.

Hazardous Materials Consulting Services: Citadel has conducted comprehensive hazardous materials consulting services across multiple UCLA sites, supporting renovation, demolition, equipment replacement, seismic improvement, healthcare conversion, housing, and campus infrastructure projects.

Asbestos and Lead Investigations / Surveys: Citadel has performed asbestos, lead, and other environmentally regulated materials surveys for UCLA projects including the UCLA School of Dentistry / CHS Building, Co-Generation Plant, Wilshire Glendon Building, Nimoy Theatre, and Neuropsychiatric Replacement Hospital. Services included asbestos bulk sampling and PLM laboratory analysis, XRF lead paint screening, lead-based paint screening, ACM/ACCM identification, hazardous materials removal specifications, bid assistance, abatement monitoring and oversight, and closeout reporting.

Contaminant Air Monitoring and Analysis: Citadel has provided contaminant air monitoring and analysis services, including LEEDv4 indoor air quality testing, construction dust exposure assessment, silica and asbestos sampling, microbial and moisture assessments, IAQ assessments, and ventilation evaluations. Work included pre-occupancy LEEDv4 IAQ testing at UCLA Southwest Campus Apartments, silica and asbestos exposure assessment at Harbor UCLA Medical Center, and moisture, microbial, IAQ, and ventilation assessments across 29 UCLA On-Campus Housing buildings.

Sub-Surface Site Assessments: Citadel’s UCLA-related sub-surface work includes Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, soil sampling, methane investigations, and vapor intrusion consulting. For the Neuropsychiatric Replacement Hospital at 5900 W. Olympic Boulevard, Citadel supported UCLA’s conversion of the former Olympia Medical Center through Phase II ESA, soil sampling, methane investigation, and vapor intrusion consulting.

Citadel continues to support UCLA’s Environmental Health & Safety and Facilities teams, providing expert consultation and hands-on management of hazardous materials, site assessments, and safety compliance to ensure the university remains a safe and healthy place for students, faculty, and staff.
