Citadel EHS provided comprehensive environmental consulting, hazardous materials management, environmental compliance, and air quality monitoring services during the redevelopment of the former Hollywood Park Racetrack property in Inglewood, California.

Los Angeles Sports Arena Redevelopment
Citadel EHS provided environmental and industrial hygiene consulting during development of two major Los Angeles Football Club facilities: Banc of California Stadium and the LAFC Practice Facility and Field at California State University, Los Angeles. Citadel supported project teams with subsurface assessment, construction-phase soil characterization, hazardous materials guidance, and worker and community air monitoring to help address environmental conditions encountered during active construction.

Citadel EHS (Citadel) provided comprehensive environmental consulting services to the Rose Bowl Operating Company during the $152 million modernization of the historic Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California. Working alongside project stakeholders during one of the stadium's most significant capital improvement programs, Citadel helped support renovations designed to enhance the fan experience while preserving the character and historic integrity of this National Historic Landmark.

Griffith Observatory
In the early 2000s, the operators of Griffith Observatory approached Citadel with a massive undertaking: to expand the observatory's offerings with a new planetarium theater, a new underground theater named 'The Leonard Nimoy Event Horizon,' 11,000 square feet of new exhibit space, a new gift shop, and cafeteria — all while restoring the historical building's original foundation.

A former fish canning facility comprising four buildings totaling approximately 85,500 square feet was being demolished to make room for Port operations. Citadel EHS served as sub-consultants to Berg & Associates providing air monitoring services during hazardous materials removal.

Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel
Citadel EHS provided environmental due diligence, hazardous materials consulting, and abatement oversight for the multi-year redevelopment of the historic Century Plaza Hotel property. Services included Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, comprehensive Environmentally Regulated Materials surveys across more than 600,000 square feet, and evaluation of asbestos, lead, PCBs, universal wastes, and other regulated materials.

Taylor Yard / Bowtie Wetland Project
Citadel EHS provides comprehensive construction dust monitoring, air quality compliance, and regulatory oversight services to The Nature Conservancy for the Taylor Yard Parcel G-1 / Bowtie Wetland Demonstration Project — a high-profile urban restoration at the northern end of the former Union Pacific Taylor Yard railyard, adjacent to the Los Angeles River, conducted under DTSC oversight and in full compliance with SCAQMD Rule 1466.

ADL Assessment & Compliance Consulting
Citadel EHS provided environmental compliance and soil investigation services to the Watershed Conservation Authority for the River Wilderness Park Entry Development Project along San Gabriel Canyon Road (SR-39) in Los Angeles County — a new gateway park to the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument including roadway improvements, utility installation, trail extensions, and infrastructure upgrades within and adjacent to Caltrans right-of-way.

Santa Susana Field Lab
The Santa Susana Field Laboratory (SSFL), located at 5800 Woolsey Canyon Road in Canoga Park, California, is a former U.S. government energy research and development facility. Although industrial operations ceased in 2006, the site contains residual radionuclide, soil, groundwater, and stormwater contamination. The responsible parties - Boeing, NASA, and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) - are conducting a comprehensive environmental cleanup to support long-term site restoration and safe future use.

The Housing Authority for the City of Los Angeles is one of the longest-serving public housing agencies in the United States. From 2005-2007, Citadel's team of expert Building Sciences consultants was instrumental in supporting HACLA during the development of their Environmental Health and Safety policies.

Citadel EHS provided comprehensive environmental, hazardous materials, industrial hygiene, and remediation consulting in support of the Long Beach Civic Center redevelopment in Long Beach, California. The project involved replacement and modernization of aging civic facilities, including City Hall, the Main Library, Lincoln Park, and surrounding site improvements.

Citadel EHS performed an Environmentally Regulated Materials (ERM) survey for the redevelopment of the Los Angeles County General Hospital in Los Angeles, California. The survey included the main hospital building, a multi-wing, an 18-story building with a basement, a concrete structure with multiple levels and areas of roofing, built in the late 1920’s to early 1930’s.

Lead in Drinking Water Testing
Citadel EHS was retained by Cadence Academy Preschool to perform lead in drinking water testing at two licensed child care centers in the Valencia neighborhood of Santa Clarita, in response to CDSS Provider Information Notice 21-21-CCP, which outlines mandatory lead sampling and reporting requirements for Child Care Centers under Assembly Bill 2370.

Citadel EHS provides environmental compliance and hazardous waste consulting to Rio Hondo College in support of correcting and abating violations issued by the Los Angeles County Fire Department, the local CUPA — helping the college achieve and maintain compliance with California hazardous materials and hazardous waste regulations for educational and laboratory facilities.

Since 1999, Citadel EHS has been a trusted partner for the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), providing a broad spectrum of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) services across nearly 300 projects. Citadel’s work has included high-profile seismic and life safety upgrade projects across UCLA’s 411-acre campus, as well as environmental, hazardous materials, indoor air quality, exposure assessment, and safety compliance efforts. Representative work includes projects at the UCLA School of Dentistry / CHS Building, Co-Generation Plant, Wilshire Glendon Building, Nimoy Theatre, Southwest Campus Apartments, On-Campus Housing, Harbor UCLA Medical Center, and the Neuropsychiatric Replacement Hospital.

Since 2004, Citadel EHS has served as a long-term environmental and hazardous materials consultant to Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), supporting K-12 facilities throughout the greater Los Angeles region. Across approximately 1000+ distinct project assignments, Citadel has provided asbestos and lead consulting, environmental sampling, project design, abatement oversight, air monitoring and clearance, technical reporting, and dedicated staff support for school modernization, infrastructure, technology, maintenance, and capital improvement programs.

California State University, Los Angeles is home to a Physics Department that formerly held a Neutron Generator that, over time, left traces of radioactive tritium in the floor tiles, requiring investigation and decommissioning.

Working with the Port and its construction partners, Citadel helps project teams identify environmental risks, respond to unexpected field conditions, maintain regulatory compliance, protect workers, and keep critical construction activities moving.

Citadel EHS provides ongoing stormwater compliance, monitoring, and reporting services to Metrolink under an on-call task order supporting multiple rail and maintenance facilities throughout California, with a focus on the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area. Citadel EHS supports Metrolink’s compliance with the California Industrial General Permit (IGP) and related local, state, and federal environmental regulations.

Citadel EHS was retained by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Legal Division to provide environmental and engineering expert witness services in connection with litigation arising from a major flood event in Tulare County, California. The engagement supports Caltrans attorneys in evaluating complex technical issues associated with potential liability and alleged property damages.

Kiewit partnered with Foothill Transit Constructors to build an exterior Rail Maintenance and Operations Facility. Citadel EHS conducted baseline indoor air quality testing to ensure compliance with LEED-NC Version 2009 environmental standards before occupancy.

LAX ConRAC / Manchester Square Redevelopment
Citadel EHS provided multidisciplinary environmental consulting and construction-phase support for the redevelopment of the Manchester Square neighborhood associated with the new LAX Consolidated Rent-A-Car (ConRAC) facility. Working initially with Myers-Griffith and subsequently with PCL Construction, Citadel supported the project from pre-demolition assessment through abatement, excavation, grading, and active construction.

After a fire damaged the Delayed Coker Unit and other areas of the Tesoro Refinery in Wilmington, CA, Citadel was contracted to assist with emergency response during the recovery period, including cleanup and abatement of damaged asbestos-containing materials.

From more than 10 years, Citadel EHS (Citadel) provided staff outsourcing to the Exxon Mobil refinery in Torrance, California. One Beverly Hills is a transformative luxury hospitality and residential development located at the western gateway to Beverly Hills at Wilshire and Santa Monica Boulevards. The approximately 17.4-acre project site encompasses the Beverly Hilton, Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, adjacent development parcels, and the former service station property at 9988 Wilshire Boulevard. The broader redevelopment plan integrates new hotel and residential development, extensive landscaped open space and amenities, a conference center, below-grade parking, and enhancements to the existing Beverly Hilton.

Citadel’s involvement began with environmental due diligence and expanded as investigations identified chlorinated volatile organic compound (VOC) impacts, including TCE and PCE, requiring further evaluation of soil, soil vapor, groundwater, and potential vapor intrusion pathways.
